I watched an inspiring video on Facebook today and it reminded me of my own situation a few years ago. This is is what I wrote in response to this thought provoking three minute film with the words of Alan Watts.
I was once asked what I would do tomorrow if I could do anything in the World. It was a free session with a trainee life coach at a point in my life when I felt like I was going round in circles. I answered that “I’d like to be shooting somewhere in Africa, for a project on the upcoming 2010 World Cup in South Africa”. Two months later I was shooting in Cote d’Ivoire. The work I shot subsequently went on to win four international awards and was exhibited in 18 international shows, including the Taylor Wessing Prize at the National Portrait Gallery in London. It was one of the best experiences of my life and if I hadn’t been asked that simple question it probably wouldn’t have happened. The prize money I won just about paid off the credit cards that I used for the trip.
So, what would you do if money was no object?
